The Baw Baw Big Blokes BBQ began in 2012, inspired by similar events and the vision of Chris McPherson AM, who launched the first Blokes BBQ in 2009 after his own prostate cancer diagnosis. His legacy sparked events across regional Australia and raised almost $3 million for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
In Baw Baw, eight founding committee members established the event as a fully accredited charity with DGR status. Today, it raises funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men’s health, supporting both the PCFA and local initiatives across West Gippsland.
